Dr. Silver works as a senior hand surgeon in Jerusalem and Modi'in. He is a senior hand surgeon and orthopedic surgeon at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. He has a private clinic in the Elitemed Specialists clinic in Modi’in, and also accepts private patients (sharap) in Shaare Zedek. Dr Silver travels back to the UK regularly and has a part-time consultant post in Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust, where he works as one of over 55 orthopedic surgeons in one of the largest major trauma centers in the UK.

A referral from your kupat holim, together with “hitchayvut,” is required to make appointments for Dr. Silver’s public clinic. No referral is needed for any of Dr. Silver’s private clinics. You can simply make an appointment.

Please bring all relevant medical records to your first appointment. This includes any previous consultations regarding your hand problem, as well as all imaging (X-ray, CT, US, MRI, etc.) and other investigations, such as EMG tests. All imaging studies should be brought as both a CD and formal report (“pianuach”).

The waiting time for Dr. Silver’s public clinic is several weeks, although urgent appointments are sometimes available. Private appointments are normally available the same week and sometimes the same day.

This depends on the complexity of your problem and whether X-Ray’s or treatments are needed during the consultation. Appointments normally last between 10 and 30 minutes. Dr. Silver will spend as much time with you as necessary in order to help you with your problem.

Depending on your problem,m you may need an X-ray. These are sometimes performed during your appointment. Dr. Silver may sometimes recommend that you have these performed elsewhere.

These are not available at the clinic, and will have to be performed through your kupat holim. Rarely, when necessary, Dr. Silver may refer you to the emergency room to have the scan performed urgently.

If you have been seen in a private consultation and wish to proceed with surgery privately, Dr. Silver will perform your surgery himself. As with any hospital in Israel, if you have been seen in a public clinic, then you may be operated on by any of the doctors working in the hand unit. Rest assured that all of the senior doctors have completed a robust training program and are fully registered hand surgeons. We do have training doctors working with us and they are fully supervised at all times.

Your first appointment after surgery will likely be in our post-op clinic, which is run by a senior orthopedic resident who is supervised by one of our senior hand surgeons. Subsequent appointments are normally with the surgeon who has operated on you. You can always ask to be seen in Dr. Silver’s clinic, if you wish, and we will do our best to accommodate this.

Yes, Dr. Silver can offer a second opinion with no obligation for you to continue any treatment under his care. We actively encourage patients to seek a second opinion, including if the first opinion was from and you are not completely happy with your treatment plan or feel like you need things explained to you in a different way.
